Republic of Chocolate (Hunya Food Co., Ltd)(宏亞巧克力共和國)

Traveler rating:3.5 49 Reviews

Popularity: 5687

Monday: Break time
Facing the intense domestic and international food industry competition, Hunya Food Co., Ltd. uses its business pioneering vision and "innovative" entrepreneurial spirit to cross over to the tourist service industry. From its expertise in the chocolate industry and the hope to continue the spirit and story of chocolate, Hunya Food Co., Ltd has created Asia’s first Chocolate Museum “Republic of Chocolate”.
Located in Bade, the Republic of Chocolate is planned for and invested in by the Hunya Food Co. Ltd., and built together by the architecture team of National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, and the construction team of the Butterfly Hall of Flora Expo. Besides integrating the essence of chocolate and the concept of virtual reality, the Republic of Chocolate is also an eco-building constructed by environmental friendly materials with modern simple designs. The outward appearance of the building looks like a top-notched handcraft chocolate cut in half with the fillings flowing out. Due to the building's unique style, part of the idol drama, "Ti Amo Chocolate", was also filmed here.
In the Republic of Chocolate, regardless of gender, race, and age, everyone will be fascinated by chocolate. Chocolate is a symbol of sweet love, blessings sent between friends, a love expressed among families and the best treat for yourself.

    Fun for the family

    Traveler rating:4 2018-04

Located in the suburbs of Taipei, Republic of Chocolate allows the family to bond and create your own chocolate treats. You should easily be able to spend about 2 - 3 hours within the compound.

    Great Fun

    Traveler rating:5 2018-02

We enjoyed our visit. It's a great family activity for little kids. Inside of the building it was bright and clean. There were bakery workshops for kids to be creative. Come early to get a parking spot. There were nice exhibits and shops and a museum of chocolate. We dined at the on site restaurant and had a European light lunch and tea with good looking sandwiches and desserts. We all had fun. Highly recommended.

Nothing much to offer other than the DIY workshop

    Traveler rating:3 2017-12

Admission is NT200 for adults and NT100 for children under 12. Half of the admission fees are redeemable for products or services. DIY workshops cost a separate NT250 or NT200 depending on package chosen. The DIY workshop runs hourly and are very well received by children. It is the saving grace for the place because besides that, there is nothing much to see. The Cafe requires each sitting person to order a minimum of one item. The location is very out of the way but an acceptable stop-over if you are enroute to Yingge.

    Chocolate making for kids

    Traveler rating:4 2017-06

Chocolate making class is a plus for this indoor activity for the family. The entrance fee comes with vouchers that can be used to reduce price for the 40mins chocolate making class where the items of slice of cake, cookies and some others being designed by the kid, will be nicely packed for the kid's takeaway. Remotely located, would need to hire a driver to and fro. Nice architecture of the building, very clean with informative exhibits on 2 levels.

    Rainy day activity

    Traveler rating:4 2017-03

It's a great place to spend a rainy day where you can visit the museum, have a guide or DIY your own chocolate (read: paint cookies and angel cake, put your own chocolate art on baking sheets and then let it dry = not actually making your own chocolate). There's a restaurant and cafe, as well as a gift shop if you'd like to pick up some gifts. Would I go? Yes. Would I recommend? Perhaps not, chances are too high that the person would be disappointed.
