Cihu Memorial Sculpture Park(慈湖紀念雕塑公園)
Statue everywhereThis place is more leisure place, if have time go for a walk is okay. Not very recommended to go if your trips is short, the only thing worth to see here is the memorial. By the way is free entry.
Legacy of the ChiangThere are hundreds or thousands of President Chiang’s statutes in schools or public buildings all over Taiwan. Many of these have been removed or destroyed. Some of these have been donated or relocated to this park.

Resting place for Chiang Kai-shek statuesDuring the rule of President Chiang Kai-shek (1928-1975) and his son President Chiang Ching-kuo (1978-1988) statues of these rulers abounded. After Taiwan's democratisation, many people showed their resentment of the Chiangs' authoritarian rule by vandalising the statues. So, they were collected and installed at the Cihu Memorial Sculpture Park. I am glad that the statues were not simply discarded, they make an interesting display. As for Chiang Ching-kuo, he put Taiwan on the road to democracy and deserves respect for that. Cihu is not far from Taoyuan City.
Scenic Park , Odd Tribute to Former DictatorIt was amazing to see and enjoy this scenic park , but odd to know this is the home to hundreds of Chiang Kai-shek statues banished from other places in Taiwan . There is a charming bridge, a quaint lake ,and , of course statue after statue of the former dictator. Make sure to visit when you are in the area and to look into the history a well.
Leisure park, but dark history behind itThe park was built, linking two temples of the former dictators of Taiwan, and the park was built for leisurely walking purpose for tourists, many dark history attach to it from the former two dictators, interestingly the park also becomes collection point of the statutes of the two former dictators as the statutes of the dictators used to be all over Taiwan but getting vandalised, graffiti frequently after Taiwan reform in the late 80s. The former county government then volunteer pick up the reminder statutes and place them in this park , that didn't stop vandalising, in fact helps vandals to come vandal in one location instead! I personally sympathy with the vandalism as the dictator did damage Taiwan in many ways over the decades. The park is popular with Chinese tourists.
