This nationally important wetland is located on the right bank of the Laojie River estuary in Dayuan District, Taoyuan City. As the largest coastal wetland in northern Taiwan, it features diverse environments such as tidal flats, sandbars, and windbreak forests , nurturing a rich variety of birdlife and making it a must-visit birdwatching destination.
Xucuogang Wetland provides an ideal habitat and feeding ground for various waterbirds. Every autumn and winter, it serves as a crucial stopover for thousands of migratory birds. Black-faced spoonbills, Chinese egrets, and Saunders’s gulls can be seen flying in flocks or feeding gracefully across the wetland. In summer, little terns and other summer migrants appear, offering birdwatchers unique surprises in every season.
