Taoyuan Children's Art Museum (桃園市兒童美術館)
Awesome virtual reality takes you on a tour of the world of art.
Exhibitions, theaters, board games, and story houses — fun for all the family members.
Tens of thousands of books initiate dialogues between children and art.
Visiting a museum can be something more than static displays or activities limited to adults. Located at Kwong Fong Plaza, Taoyuan Children's Art Museum features three major themes: children, arts and digitization. By AR and VR equipment, imagination can go beyond the frame, art can be cool and interesting, and your trip to the art museum can be trendy and fashionable!
With a total area of 3300 square meters, the museum on the 5th floor is divided into different areas. The "Table Game Area" is designed for friends or families to have fun together and the "Velcro Play Area" invites visitors to show their own creativity. According to the schedule of the museum, storytelling sessions and drama performances are held in the "Children's Theater." Artworks by local artists and children are displayed in the "Permanent & Special Exhibition Area." Among all sections in the museum, the "VR Area" is the most popular one! With a virtual reality headset and a remote control in hand, museum visitors can travel through the universe, dive into the nature or step into the world famous paintings! Based on the augmented reality technology, the "AR Area" requires infinite innovative ideas. By putting colorful lines and geometric shapes together, visitors create digital paintings of their own and the creations can be downloaded as personalized travel souvenirs. Everyone will love it!The spacious and well-lit library on the 6th floor possesses more than ten thousand books, ranging from comic books, picture books to art books and classic children's books. Thanks to the use of RFID tags, readers are able to track the location of each book on the shelf. Moreover, by linking the Library Cards to Taoyuan Public Library Mobile APP, readers can use smartphones to borrow books! In addition, the multimedia area and the reading zone are available for groups and families to have a cozy reading space and more time together. Monthly theater activities and all kinds of art education and promotion programs, including paper cutting, painting and origami, are held in the museum, welcoming children to explore the fun of art and creativity.
